Bokken-Training

Bokken or Bokuto is a wooden-sword, made of japanese oak, that is used in partner-sword-forms (Kumitachi).*

What is Bokken-Training?

The following exercises simulate real sword fighting situations. To protect you from any harm you only shoud use a Bokken (wooden sword). In this exercises hits and cuts are only indicated.

The shown kumitachis are the result of collecting and mixing different techniques from various schools. Int the end these techniques were improved by Ramtin Rezanezhad.

The Bokken-Training Videos

Bokken-Training Part 1 includes:

- all standard techniques (kihons) for Bokken-Training

- 49 partner exercises - 49 Kumitachi* (bokken against bokken)

- all forms of cut- and blocking-techniques

- duration: ca. 28 min.

Bokken-Training Part 2 includes:

- Short sword (Wakizahsi) against long sword (katana) = 17 kumitachis

- Nito** (two swords: combination of long sword and short sword) = 15 kumitachis

- without weapon against sword = 9 kumitachis

- how to avoid being disarmed = 5 kumitachis

- duration: ca. 30 min.

* Kumitachi: A short, two man exercise with the sword (Bokken) or other weapons. It is not contest, but a form of practice between partners.

** In two-sword technique, one sword (the long) is often used to control or parry the opponent's sword while the other one dispatches him.
